Outlawed

Map Name:
Outlawed

Description:
Final update of my Hang 'em High remake. If you liked the original, you'll love this. 4-12 players.

Screenshots

Looking up at blue base and the sniper tower from the middle of the map.

Catwalks, OS platform, and sniper tower.

Roof of blue base.

Rocket spawn, and red base in the distance.

Shotgun hallway inside blue base.

Bottom ramps of red base.

Top ramps of red base.

Map Description

In case you couldn't already tell, Outlawed is a remake of my favorite Halo map of all time, Hang 'em High. Almost every detail of the original map is present; the catwalks, the tombstones (somewhat accurately placed), the ramps (perfectly placed), the corridors within blue base, and the same exact weapon layout, with pistols swapped for BRs, and with half the number of grenades (as you can only hold half as many in H3 as in H1.) I have also taken the liberty to swap the two health packs for eqipment; one with a bubble shield, and one with a regenerator. It gives combat for this map an interesting twist, especially in CTF. The only element of HeH missing from Outlawed is the central trench. Adding a trench is possible, but to do so would require raising the floor with blocks, and such an amount of objects would take away from the details I painstakingly added. In order to compensate for the loss of cover, I added some tombstones to the ground. I feel that it does suffice, and that Outlawed still looks and feels almost exactly like its predecessor.

Weapon Layout

Weapons:
x2 Battle Rifles
x4 Shotguns
x1 Sniper Rifle
x1 Rocket Launcher
x2 Plasma Rifles
x3 Needlers

Equipment:
x4 Frag Grenades
x4 Plasma Grenades
x1 Bubble Shield
x1 Regenerator
x1 Overshield
x1 Active Camo

I've seen this on HBO. Good remake and interlocking.
I never liked this map in halo 2 though :]

neither did i. that's why i remade Hang 'em High and not Tombstone. And all of the jumps are scaled accurately to what you could do in HeH. Tomb's jumps were a bit different.

Whoo didn't see this.

Okay, time to get down to buisness:

First impressions
I personally love Hang 'em high. I made a remake myself, but yours blows mine away. The detail is great, very creative way to do the cat walks. I am glad you stayed true to the original weapon load out, and to the design of the original map.

I will download the map and play on it as soon as I can.

After playing on the map

Rating
I cannot give a proper rating until actually playing on the map, but from what I am seeing:

4.5/5 (I round up)

Final comments/suggestions
Again, I must play on the map first. But very well done.

You didn't lie. The map is very accurate, well, as accurate as anyone can get I believe. Honestly, you did a great job. I wish I had been able to play with 6 people, but I couldn't. But either way it was great. The catwalks were smooth, same with the platforms.

The only thing I felt was off were the tombstones. If you add a few more here and there, while leaving the center isle (where the trench is supposed to be) open, I think it could greatly improve the map.

Just as I said above, a few more tombstones maybe, while leaving the center isle clear could be something to try.

This is just personal preference on my part, for the sniper tower, try using ramps to give it that sleeker appearance that is in the original.

Very well done.

i tried it with the center clear a while ago. because there's no trench, there's no cover. that made combat really bland. I added the tombstones to compensate for that.

What you could try would be to make two elevated bridges in the center, kind of like the original map.

But either way it is a good map. Submit it Forge hub.
